Admissions Review Process
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, but we recommend submitting early to ensure time for review, course registration, and orientation.
Our admissions team takes a holistic approach and considers your academic history, professional achievements, and your personal statement. We prioritize applicants with strong professional motivation and the ability to meaningfully contribute to the UC Law San Francisco community.
Who We’re Looking For
The UC Law SF MLS program is ideal for professionals who:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- Work in law-adjacent roles, highly regulated industries, or positions requiring policy, compliance, or contract expertise.
- Want to gain a comprehensive understanding of U.S. law without earning a J.D.
No LSAT, GMAT, or GRE scores are required to apply.

Application Requirements
It takes less than 10 minutes to begin your application, and your progress is automatically saved throughout the process.
The application fee is $75, but if you speak with an enrollment specialist to explore how the MLS can support your goals, we’ll waive the fee as our way of thanking you for taking the time to make an informed decision.
We require official transcripts from all colleges or universities you’ve attended. These help us confirm your academic background and readiness for graduate-level coursework. Transcripts must come directly from the issuing institution.
Provide a current resume or curriculum vitae highlighting your work history, education, and any relevant skills or accomplishments. We value diverse professional experiences, whether you’re advancing in your current career or pivoting into a new field.
We want to hear your story. In no more than four pages (typed, double-spaced), explain your interest in the program and how your career goals would be supported by studying at UC Law SF. This is your chance to show us your writing ability, goals, and what makes you a great fit for UC Law SF.
Submit one professional or academic recommender who can speak to your skills, achievements, and potential for success in graduate school. A strong letter gives us insight into your initiative and capabilities beyond grades and test scores.
Take the Next Step
Join a program that offers flexible online and hybrid formats, the ability to personalize your education to meet your goals, and access to the same faculty and resources as J.D. students.
