Our MLS online application takes approximately 15 minutes to complete.

For applicants who may have started but who have not yet submitted a signed and certified application form through our old Docusign system, please start a new application.

For applicants who submitted a signed and certified application form through our old Docusign system, please continue to work with your enrollment specialist to submit all remaining supplement documents.

Online Application

The link to the $75 application fee is in the application portal. If you speak with an enrollment specialist to explore how the MLS can support your goals, you’ll receive a fee waiver code to input into the application as our way of thanking you for taking the time to make an informed decision.

We require official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended. This includes any institutions from which credits were transferred into the student’s bachelor’s degree. Additionally, if a school is listed on the application, a corresponding transcript must be submitted, regardless of whether a degree was conferred.

Preferred method of submission: Contact the Registrars/Records Office at your post-secondary institution and arrange to have them send your official transcript to the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco via email to mlsadmissions@uclawsf.edu or through Parchment or the National Student Clearinghouse.

Your school may also mail your official transcript in a sealed envelope to:

Note: Transcripts sent by applicants or third parties that are not the institution, and transcripts that arrive in envelopes that appear to have been opened, will not be accepted as official.

All post-secondary degrees earned outside of the United States or Canada must be evaluated and authenticated by one of the following foreign credential evaluation agencies:

• ECE
  • By ordering a credential evaluation for UC Law San Francisco (formerly UC Hastings) through the ECE Select™ application, you get a 10 percent discount on the report and a free copy sent to UC Law San Francisco.
• WES
  • You must select ICAP so UC Law SF will receive a copy of your authenticated and evaluated official transcripts and diplomas along with your credential evaluation report.

NOTE: You must have both your official transcripts and diplomas evaluated.

You will upload your current resume or curriculum vitae to the application portal, highlighting your work history, education, and any relevant skills or accomplishments. We value diverse professional experiences, whether you’re advancing in your current career or pivoting into a new field.

You will upload your Statement of Purpose to the application portal. We want to hear your story. In no more than four pages (typed, double-spaced), explain your interest in the program and how your career goals would be supported by studying at UC Law SF. This is your chance to show us your writing ability, goals, and what makes you a great fit for UC Law SF.

You will enter into the application portal the contact information for the one professional or academic recommender who can speak to your skills, achievements, and potential for success in graduate school. A strong letter gives us insight into your initiative and capabilities beyond grades and test scores. NOTE: Please do not enter recommender information until you have confirmed that the recommender will submit a letter.
